Make it easier to link the correct items to highlights and other entities

Problem

When I create a highlight, I need to know the name of the target that I want to link. Else I can’t link it.

This is not only a problem with the highlight functionality, it also occurs when you use the normal ‘link or create’ function in a list view.

Possible solution

  • After creating a highlight, I can link other entities. In my case ‘product’ or ‘subject’.
  • There I do see all entities that belongs to that database. Like in the rest of the workspace where I have the select or create option.

  • I can search for a text and I can sort/filter items.
  • If we have the same functionality while linking items, the problem is solved

What would also very welcome

1. To have that same functionality filter/sort option in search

  • We use the search function often to open an item split screen (since that’s one of the best functions of Fibery IMO).
  • But in this case we also don’t always know on which text we should search.
  • What we do know, is the database name (i.e. “Note”)
  • If we select the database, it would be really helpful that we can have (temporary?) filter/sort options in search. So that I can filter based on product, state, etc. and find/open items more easily.

2.The possibility to have ‘link or create’ in a grid view.

When we have a many relation, then we currently have 2 (context) views:

  • A table with ‘all linked entities’ → that shows all data in a nice way. This is the place where the user creates new items and fill in all fields.
  • A list view ‘link existing entity’ → it’s only purpose is to link an entity so that it shows in the table view.

Which is really confusing for (new) users. But the list view is not UI friendly when you want to show a lot of data.

I have this same issue daily and it’s a huuuge pain in the ass. It takes forever to have to create a filter every single time you want to link to something specific and context filters are still too limited in many situations.

My ideal solution would be to allow any entity’s fields to be displayed in the linking window, so even if there was 10 entities called “Test” you could easily tell them apart based on their unique field values/relationships.

That’s an awesome idea! :grin::grin::grin:
