Create highlights via Fibery browser extension

There is a really cool browser extension for Notion that makes it possible to:

  • Create a new item
  • Add highlighted text in that item

As you can see in this video.

Would be awesome if we can have this feature in the native Fibery browser extension :partying_face:

This is possible already with the Fibery web clipper

(assuming I got your request)

Hi Chris,

Currently you can only highlight one alinea, after that the new item gets created.

With the Notion browser extension you can keep highlighting after the item is created.

So if you highlight alinea 1, 3 and 5, the text of those alineas will be added in the already created item.

Which is an awesome feature I think

Ah, I didn’t get that it was about being able to add more after creation.
I’m not sure this will be very easy with our web clipper, since it can only create - it doesn’t know what entities have already been created, so it would be v difficult for it to determine which entity to append more lines.

How it works:

Option 1 → add a new entity

  • Choose the database
  • Add a new entity
  • Then highlight text and choose that entity for the highlights

Option 2 → choose existing entity

  • Highlight text
  • Choose in which entity you want to create the highlight

In both scenarios you add the highlight via right click

It’s currently not possible with Fibery’s browser extension. But it shouldn’t be that hard to retrieve entities from a database and add a highlight/text to that entity

Do you mean a Highlight or highlight ?

GraphQL works great :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

None of those :joy: Just what is shown in the video.

  • Highlight a text on a browser page
  • Right click
  • Choose ‘add highlight’
  • Then the highlighted text on the browser page will be added as plain rich text in the selected entity

The alternative now is to copy the text. That’s not bad, but this can save time (for example: when you want to collect VOC data on webpages).

OK, then I think the title of this topic and some of what you wrote was misleading me:

You want to append(?) text to a rich text field of an existing entity.
The text to be appended is the text you have highlighted in your browser, and you want to choose the entity via the browser extension.

Have you considered experimenting with ply.io to achieve this?

Yes

Good idea!

I’ve created flows in Ply for specific apps (like LinkedIn). Will give it a try for this use case
