Improved UI for documents and highlighting

Some ideas I had after moving from Notion docs.

  1. It’s really challenging to move text around, and even more challenging to move tables. Notion has “handles” to grab and move text + tables, if you want to move it above or below other content on a page. To move tables in Fibery, you need to cut/paste, which will leave behind an empty table in the original place.
  2. Additionally, there is an issue where if you add a table to the page, you can’t click below it to add additional text underneath the table. This means that to add a table, I need to create extra lines of text underneath where I want the table to go when I place it.
  3. Some improvements for highlights. First, autopopulating (or using tab to auto-fill) the highlighted text in the search box when you select “Create Highlight.” If I want to create a new highlight, I often have to type in the highlighted text again manually.
  4. It would be awesome if I could set a default database for highlights to be created in. As an example, if I were to use highlights as a way to link a keyword to a “definitions” table, every time I want to do that, I highlight the text, select “create highlight”, type in the keyword again into the search box, select the database I want to create that highlight in, then click create. It would be great if there was an option at the top that had a button to create in the default database, and then have the dropdown as a secondary option to select a separate one.

Yep, I was having these issues this week as well. Embedded views are also super janky and seemingly impossible to unselect.
