Wanted to add a simple request. I expect other users may be able to relate to this one.
I have found myself missing the ability to “quick add” an entity in Fibery. Not only would I like to see a “big” button that would always be visible in the general desktop view for this, like in Notion:
but I think a keyboard shortcut as well would be great.
Right now I’m having to “favorite” my most used tables, then navigate to each one to add new entities. It’s a pretty cumbersome process.
As far as how to figure out where these new entities would go, there are various approaches: You could have a dialogue box pop that would as you to select which Type for the new Entity, or simply add in by default to the last used Type.
@B_Sp I hope we will solve this problem via Actions. It will be possible to create and invoke various actions in Search field using Cmd+K. Here is the sketch how we see it. What do you think?
Sorry if I should understand better, but it looks like the sketch is of an entity view. If the idea is to type “ctrl” + “K,” pop up the search bar ( a great feature ), and then from there quick add via keyboard shortcut, that would do the trick. Adding new entities within other entity related fields is also great and I use that extensively. But what I’m looking for is the ability to add a new entity quickly when in the “home” area of Fibery. If all I had to do is click “ctrl” + “k,” and then another key or two to do that, that would be great!
I assume the same popup interface can be initiated by pressing the + button in a relation view? We don’t really use keyboard shortcuts often.
Also, what are the chances that it could also be used to edit existing entities in certain situations as well? Perhaps triggered by a fibery button/rule so a user can see exiting values before setting new values?
Great guys! Anything that helps speed movement around the interface, especially with the keyboard, is a big bonus! Keyboard shortcuts are already probably in my top 5 best features of Fibery. I can move so quickly around in Fibery and link items, crank out new entities, commit comments, you name it, much faster than anything else I’ve tried, in particular Notion. So glad to see you adding to the repertoire here of what can be done quickly in one keystroke!
I’m referring to the “display current value when user is asked to update value” feature request since this prototype looks exactly like how I’d want it to work (assuming the fields were prepopulated with existing values). I know you’ve said it’s not really possible due to how fibery works, hence my used of the icon.
Not sure about this so far. It is not a direct relation, so maybe people will be confused if it will work this way. We will collect some feedback first
I understand and I agree that it are two separate things.
My two cents:
I think it would be helpful if we can somehow determine in which databases users can add entities and in which they can’t. Not permission wise, but database wise like the current ‘exclude from search’ function.
The full database list is shown in several places. Like browser extension, the new quick entity creation but also when you want to create an entity in a rich text field or via search. Even databases that belong to integrations show up in that list.
Would be helpful if we can somehow only show relevant databases to users when they want to create an entity.
