Saw this previous issue that notify user cannot notify author and this breaks the use of the automation for me. I’d like to be notified if I or anyone else creates an item rather than have 2 different rules that if I create the item to notify me and if someone else creates an item to notify me.
I think you misunderstand how the checkbox works.
A Notification will always be sent to whomever is defined in the action if the box is unchecked.
If the box is unchecked, a Notification will be sent to whomever is defined in the action, unless that is the user who triggered the automation.
You don’t need two automations. You need a single automation which notifies you, and have the box unchecked.
This is not how the automation is working for me.
If I create a “notify user” automation and put the user as myself, I do not get a notification if I create the entity. From the previous issue link you replied to, the only way for me to be notified in the automation is to check the “Notify the author of their own modifications”.
My request is to always notify the user selected even if it is the author so I do not need to checkmark the Notify author as a corner case.
Let me know if my understanding is wrong here as well.
