Unrelated Swimlanes in Board View / Show columns only related to row

Setup: Project Type → Stage → Project. (Stages are unique per project type)

Ideally I can view all projects on a board view, but if I set the columns to be Stage, it is not truly representative of each projects “Stage” as it show other types to the left and right of it.

If I set the rows to be “Type” it makes for a lot “fake cells” where a project is of a certain type, so It should not be allowed to have a stage that is not correlated to that type.

If there could be a checkbox in the board view for “filter columns based on rows” or something of the sort. Then each row “Project Type” will show independent column names, based on its related “Project stages”.

It would be a bit of a different idea to a traditional board view, but would be a nice way to see an overview of different things that are at different stages.

The work around would be to create a separate board view for each type, and put them next to each other in a rich text field.
