I love the new display settings options to clean up cluttered views.
I also love using icons to improve readability and speed up comprehension.
Sadly, there is currently no way to only show the icon rather than both the text and icon.
I feel like this could easily be added as an additional display option.
This would be particularly useful for workflows or single select fields in compact views!

In this example, the User, Task, Priority and State can all be an icon without really losing any information.
Have you tried showing the user field as avatar only?
I forgot to do so in this view, it was meant as an example to show how much the use of icons can simplify these entities.
But, the options for avatars is exactly what I (and I imagine @Dominic ) would like for other options as well. Especially Single / Multi select options
