Rich text fields on stale pages ignore permissions

I am trying to create an review and audit trail for an entity that is fairly complex, having many fields (and field types). I am using buttons alongside a permissions People field that controls everything

the issue is that once the button is pressed, the open&stale page is still accepting edits into rich text fields - other fields reject edits on the stale page with a warning sign and “sorry you can’t edit…”

when the page is reloaded, everything works as intended, including rich text fields

how can I solve this or work around it? This defeats the purpose of locking records, because approved records can still be changed after the fact.

Ah, yeah this is problematic.

No direct workaround I know of, but I think solving this would/could also mean solving the “Create and Open” when auto-sharing using a field which is not the default “Created by”. (kind of related to this: Prevent Created By user from deleting entity - #4 by RonMakesSystems)

Ideally the permissions doesn’t need a hard refresh to show/hide “Read only”, and entity permissions would be live updated.

If you go into “Share” in the entity, and look at who has access, that access list updates live with no hard refresh, so I hope fixing this is not too hard.
