Rich text field is invisible in page

In a an entity view, I have a rich text field.
It is gone. Not hidden, not read-only. GONE.

The page still sets out space for where it should be, but there’s nothing there. Blank.

This is a critical issue which is affecting our business.

Is this directly caused by the changes to entity loading in the 5/11 release?

Indeed I noticed similar behavior, where the entity loads before the rich text field. But it usually loads after half a second…

Did you try clearing cache and cookies and relogging in?

It’s every user. Every browser. Every device.
Cleared cache, logged out, closed browser, opened in incognito.

The field is gone in the majority of entities, on every view it should be set out.

I can access it directly as architect, so the data hasn’t been corrupted.

So there must be something on the affected entities which is preventing it from loading, because there’s no reason I can think of why some show it and others don’t.

I’m not even getting the red bar of doom for the affected field

Could you please try two quick things for us?

  1. Open one of the affected entities, add ?no-oe-prefetch-rich-text to the end of the URL For example:
    https://itsu-70.fibery.io/Project_Tracking/Project/Build-a-dream-house-1?no-oe-prefetch-rich-text
(if there’s already a ? in the URL use &no-oe-prefetch-rich-text instead)
  2. Open the same entity with the normal URL but on a different network, like your phone’s mobile data instead of the office Wi-Fi

For each one just let us know whether Minutes shows up, stays blank or shows the red bar. A screenshot would be great too

It’s not the Minutes field that’s affected. I posted that as an example of what’s not happening.

The page is what I described: all other fields, and a huge empty div where the rich text should be.

The DOM element is added below:

<div aria-hidden="true" data-testid="object-editor-estimated-tail" class="t1t4n8vc-tail" style="height: 941px;"></div>

After doing what you suggested, nothing changed.

And I can’t really show a screenshot of an empty page.

Actually, there may be something else at play here.

It’s not just the Agenda (affected) field; it seems to be temperamental and not showing Action Items (related list) either.

It’s one or the other — one appears, the other is missing.

Entity #1: Showing Agenda, missing Action Items

Entity #2: Showing Action Items, missing Agenda, attachments, comments…

Does this help?

That’s what it is. When the feed exists, it hides all elements after it. Remove the feed and all other elements reappear. Definitely a rendering bug.

I disabled and re-enabled the Action Items lookup, but it still hid all following elements.

So, I toggled it from Relation Views, to Compact List, then back to Relation Views. This worked.

However, when leaving the Entity and returning, it reverted to hiding the elements again.

Interestingly, it only seems to happen when the relationship is indirect (in this case, it’s pulling Action Items from the previous Meeting entity).

It doesn’t seem to matter whether the data is presented in a feed or list view.

It also only seems to be an issue if it’s in the bottom section of the entity view.

Sorry! we tried to make pages significantly faster and accidentally made some fields disappear. A bit too much optimization :see_no_evil_monkey:
Thanks a lot for sticking with us and digging into this. Your finding helped a lot to locate the bug with indirect refs

Please refresh the page and give it another try. Is everything back now?
