It would be nice if we could nest user groups. We have two levels: roles and departments. A role can be filled by one or more people. And departments can have multiple roles (but a role will only have one department). We have a lot of sharing happening automatically through roles, but sometimes something should be shared with an entire department. It’s tedious for people to search for which roles are under a department and then manually put them all in when sharing. Automatically populating a department user group with role user groups would be nice.
Why not treat Department as a User Group as well? Use a lookup to get all the Users in a Department from its Roles, and then enable User Group functionality for this field.
