March 27, 2025 / 👯‍♀️ Manage User Groups in one place, Filter by user role, many improvements

Spring is a time of improvements and polishing. Enjoy dozens of fixes and small improvements in this release.

:women_with_bunny_ears: Manage User Groups in one place

Fibery has a unique approach of re-using Databases for User Groups instead of introducing an isolated setting. This approach is great long-term, but first you have to figure it out  which few people can without resorting to the user guide or support.

Today we are introducing proper User Group management to make it easier to start using groups as well as manage the existing ones. If you already have a Database with Teams, Roles, or Departments you can make it a User Group DB to share Spaces, Databases, and individual Entities. If you don’t yet have a relevant Database, you can create a new one.

Check out our user guide for details.

Filter by user role

To get a list of Admins, to count the number of Observers, or to display a Smart Folder with Guests, filter by User Role:

Comments Sidebar in Whiteboard

Now, you can access and manage comments from the right sidebar by clicking the comments button in the toolbar. Selecting a comment or thread will instantly takes you to its location on the board and expand the comment panel.

:butterfly: Improvements

Quite many improvements today here and there:

  • Pricing:
    • Five months after the announcement , restricting the login methods is, finally, a Pro/Enterprise feature now. Won’t affect you if you were a paid customer before Nov 1, 2024
    • If you first decided to switch from a paid plan to Free but then changed your mind :smiling_face_with_tear:, you can cancel the scheduled downgrade in the billing settings
  • Sidebar:
    • Views in + menu in the sidebar got collapsed into a single View menu item. There were just too many items in the menu, so now it easier to find what to add
    • Drag and drop style that was added to sidebar was applied to reordering Rules, Buttons and Access Templates
  • Users:
    • You can now Invite users from the User DB’s screen, not just via settings
    • You can now delete a User on any View via the usual context menu
  • Integrations:
    • Email: Radically reduce quantity of Contact name updates in email integration. It caused unnecessary load on integration syncs
    • Zendesk: Brand field added into sync
  • Table View:
    • Styles on Table View were refreshed and streamlined
    • Create entities with required fields on Table View inline, without a distracting popup
  • Automations:
From today, if there is a field value defined in the automation action, it will override ‘default inheritance’. If nothing is defined (which is what 99% of automations do) the ‘default inheritance’ will continue to be applied
  • :green_apple: Views:
Now you can display State unit as an Icon on all views. Click on Field in settings, and select Display as → Icon.

:cross_mark: Removed features

We rarely sunset features, but sometimes we do. Automatic patterns finding & clusterization for Highlights was removed, since it’s quality was far from great and usage was very low. We decided to shutdown this feature for now and not spend time on improvements in near future.

:shrimp: Fixed Bugs

  • Permissions:
    • No confirmation when deleting a custom access template that is being used
    • Access template color coding is not useful
  • Required fields
    • Do not ask values for required fields if they are filled by converter and there is no need to enter new values
    • Issue with empty required field during converting - user provides a value but receives error as a result
    • When field required, it also not draggable to change order
    • User asked to fill required fields which are not required any more
    • JS error in console on converting entity to database with required fields
  • Import:
    • Spaces created for Import is added to deprecated soon ‘Spaces’ section
    • Adding new entities is disabled for databases created by Import or by deleted integration until user refreshes the page
  • Email Integration:
    • Attachments are re-uploaded during each message sync
    • Some attachments are not synced
    • Attachments are not synced for multiple /personal accounts
  • Pricing, Billing & Account:
    • Pricing plan badges alignment in settings is off on Windows
    • “Referrals and Credits” settings page label uses sentence instead of title case
    • Security settings page now shows the correct pricing plan badges (mostly Enterprise)
  • Sidebar:
    • Sub-folder in Private space fails to be re-ordered if it contains at least one view inside
    • Sidebar DnD: Sometimes items do not drop to last position, but one above
  • Zendesk: Zendesk: add zendesk_id and subject fields for tickets
  • Whiteboard: Сlean board option is not disabled if User doesn’t have edit permissions on whiteboard
  • Design System: The indicator that DB contains more than 500 entities is unreadable in the dark theme
  • Smart Folders & Context Views: Default form used for quick add is visible in add context view->existing views
  • Rich Text: z-index issue with 'Add entity ’ form when entity is added via ‘#’
  • Table View: Totals calculations for percentage are wrong (AVG)
  • Rename/Delete Space/Database/Field: App crash (rather empty screen) when rename space/db, while you are on Automation page with a filter
  • Calendar View: database can not be selected during entity creation in Day and Week scales
  • Entity View: Headers style was fixed to make it look better

Good addition this groups management panel. Any plans for the nested hierarchy in groups?

:clap:t5::clap:t5::clap:t5: Very excited for this! I hope that gets us one step closer to State Icons as Entity Icons.

May be an under the radar change but noticed the Entity Names are now H1 and not bold anymore:

Indeed. Forgot to include into changelog, will fix

If you define the entity icon with a formula, this can be done:

This (along with the other email integration bug fixes) are my favorites out of this release

We kept having integration disconnections over the last several months, and hoping that this fixes those issues. It’s a great feature, but we just couldn’t rely on it (until now, hopefully!)

While this is very cool, I’m interested in the computed completion icons.

In all fairness, I did “want” to use this, but just never had priority for it. I think a simple “Find Similar” suffices for most. Baking this into Reports could also be useful.

That said, once AI chat in Fibery is working well, users can use it to analyze Fibery entities (like feedback) and summarize things, create lists, etc.

Lastly, if this feature is being deprecated, I have a request. Can we bring back Rich Text highlighting with references? I wasn’t particularly happy about that being removed. A lot of times, I find myself adding it as “See: {Referenced Very Specific Document}” at the end of sentences, rather than being able to simply highlight the doc.

Highlights as a feature will remain, there is quite strong usage. We just removed automatic clusterization of new data

No plans so far, we haven’t seen much demand (yet).
