Ctrl + Tab to move between open tabs in Desktop App

Love to see the implementation of tabs into the desktop apps. I love the use of keyboard shortcuts to go through tabs on the browser, and think it would be amazing to see this implemented also into the desktop tabs!

There are shortcuts, tab switching is
Ctrl+Shift+Tab Ctrl+Tab win
Cmd+Option+Left Cmd+Option+Right mac

Ah I see! Works like a charm. It seems to me to be the norm for Ctrl + Tab to be the norm for switching tabs. Advantage is it works with one hand too! I’ll leave this request up for now then.

I installed the desktop windows app today on my windows 10 machine.

:lady_beetle: Ctrl-Tab stops working for me
I noticed that switching tabs with ctrl-tab or ctrl-shift-tab has issues where it stops working most of the time for me. It’s affects both Windows shortcuts ctrl-tab and ctrl-shift-tab.

Reproduce:

  • Have 2 or more tabs in desktop app
  • Try to cycle with ctrl-tab. It probably works. You can do multiple ctrl-tab and it will cycle
  • Now click into a tab so focus goes into tabbed window
  • Now try ctrl-tab. It will work, but only exactly 1 time, to switch the tab
  • Now try ctrl tab again. Expected: switches tab again. Actual: Nothing happens. At this point neither ctrl-tab or ctrl-shift-tab works any more
  • To fix, manually click on a tab (at which point you can cycle multiple time), or click into content of a tab (at which point you can cycle 1 time before it stops working again)

For me the reproduces every time, it’s not temporary. I tried to remove tabs, restart the app and add tabs, but behavior is still there.

App version: Version v1.0.648 (build n38155)

Cannot copy-paste App version from desktop app

By the way, I got App version from Help & Support, but couldn’t select/copy-paste this string, so I had to manually type it by hand. Maybe this information is automatically included in direct support, and maybe desktop app will auto-update, and this is not a thing.

But since its a desktop app, maybe this will sometimes be needed going forward? In that case, it would be nice if it could be selectable/copy-pastable, or some other mechanism to report environment details, if that becomes more relevant for desktop users.

ctrl-pageup and ctrl-pagedown
Can ctrl-pageup and ctrl-pagedown be added as aliases for ctrl-tab and ctrl-alt-tab on Windows desktop app?

It’s not that common but much more ergonomic to me. However it’s not rare, for example the very good Windows Terminal app have this as the default shortcut to cycle tabs left-right, and I cannot think of any conflicting app or os-level shortcut on Windows (but I could be wrong…)

Can confirm CTRL + Tab only works once (Windows), exactly as Joel described it above.

+1 to the Ctrl+Tab not working as intended
From what I see it feels like the app loses focus after the first Ctrl + tab
Because If I press click after that it works
So:

  1. Ctrl + Tab, Ctrl + Tab does not work
  2. Ctrl + Tab, click [inside current tab to give it focus], Ctrl + Tab works
