August 29, 2024 / Linear integration, Duplicate Rule or Button, Restrictions to work with Fibery from Russia

:no_entry_sign: Restrictions for customers based in Russia (and some other countries)

The U.S. government has introduced restrictions prohibiting access to certain software products and services to any person in Russia. Due to these restrictions, Fibery will no longer provide users located in Russia access to the platform.

  • It will be not possible to register new accounts if you are accessing Fibery from Russia starting September 1st.
  • It will be not possible to access any Fibery account from Russia starting September 12, 2024. Here is the full list of blocked countries: Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Republic of Crimea, Sudan, Syria, Russia and Belarus.
  • Note that access is blocked by IP.

:blueberries: Linear Integration

This integration bridges the gap between product management, feedback management, and software development, allowing teams to work with their preferred tools while maintaining a single source of truth. Product managers can leverage Fibery’s flexible product management solutions and planning features, while developers can continue using Linear’s streamlined issue tracking.

We make several use cases possible with integration:

  • Link user stories to Linear issues: Create rich product specifications in Fibery and link them directly to development tasks in Linear.
  • Track development progress: View status updates on Linear issues within your Fibery workspace.
  • Initial data import: If Linear is too opinionated for your taste, you can easily import your existing Linear data into the super flexible Fibery.

The integration is thorough, encompassing all Linear information, including Initiatives, Projects, Teams, and Documents.

:dancing_women: Duplicate Rule or Button

Copy is available for rules and buttons in automation, so you can easily iterate on your existing rule configuration or create a similar button.

:handbag: Update headers in Views

We’ve updated the UI of headers in views, documents, and forms to enhance navigation, fix scaling issues, and prepare for the upcoming Search in Views feature. Now, most header elements and their behavior are consistent. Navigation components, like the space indicator, breadcrumbs, and actions for opening a new panel, searching, and closing, are positioned at the top, while view-specific actions are at the bottom.

The most noticeable change is the relocation of the “new panel to left/right” menu, which is now at the top right of the header.

Updates to the header on the Entity View are coming soon as well.

Explain the empty Highlight Suggestion

It can happen that the Highlight Suggestion does not find relevant matching content. Instead of giving a “No matching found” error message, we try to provide some clues on how you can increase the chance of getting matching suggestions.

For example, during the X-wing user test interviews, someone interviewed Indiana Jones. Thus, it is unsurprising that our incredible AI was unable to find any correlation between the X-wing user interview questions and the Indiana Jones story. But now you know why

:seedling: Fibery Desktop App 2.0.6

Some updates to Fibery Windows and MacOS apps.

  • Added tooltips for tab titles
  • Fixed bugs
    • Tooltip doesn’t appear when hover on the tab in desktop app
    • Unnesessary divider and pading in tab context menu if only one tab is opened
    • New tab is not focused by default in desktop app
    • Blank screen on opening the app

:butterfly: Improvements (we hope so)

  • Database setup old grid is replaced with the new grid that is consistent with the Table View. Limit is increased to 500 entities here. Sometimes it still takes 2-3 seconds to load, so we will think how to make it better.
  • User lists in filters separate active and inactive users, so the user list has more relevant items.

:shrimp: Fixed Bugs

  • Color field is missing in one-column layout (Workflow extension)
  • Form view: It’s possible to put cursor and type text in disabled rich text field
  • Users pop-up blinks on the first opening
  • Rich text: Image toolbar does not work in documents when there is no plain text below
  • Multiple Email integration account fetch mail to wrong database
  • Error on creation Workflow field when default option is deleted
  • Whiteboard: keyboard shortcuts in Presentaion Mode allow new Shapes creation
  • Breadcrumbs do not get updated after entity renaming
  • Table View:
    • Broken calendar picker
    • Avatar does not load for entity in Table view . Also column title is wrong
    • Two fields added instead of one on clicking ‘Add level’

FYI, not sure if it is just an issue on my side, but when I tried syncing with Linear from my Windows Fibery app, clicking on Linear from the Space integration setup didn’t do anything
however, I am able to set up the integration via Fibery in my Google Chrome browser.

I can confirm that no issues were synced for us when Linear was integrated. Initiatives, teams and other databases synced but no issues.

Huh, weird. After integrating via the web browser, everything I have synced. But then again, I’m very new to Linear and only have 18 issues in there so far, so I wonder if the number of Linear issues you tried to sync was an issue? Out of my wheelhouse there!

Did you experience this behavior from the app, or are you using a browser?

Wrote into support!

Nice to see some love for devs via linear.

It is unfortunate that syncing comments was not implemented;
As it would enable to truly keep track of activity. Also I wonder if it is somehow possible to leverage webhooks/sync to get instant or timely updates from a technical pov?

from initial tests one has to depend on hourly sync intervals or requiring to manually sync the entire integration, which afaik is not exposed to non-owners or admin user roles.

not sure if ideal features are exhaustive in practice and how things look on linear side. but open pr’s, unresolved vs closed reviews, related comments on code-diffs
would probably make coverage rather complete, afaik.

Can you provide use cases why you need comments sync and faster sync time?

I’m not sure I can name a specific use-case. In my case it’s mostly about integration/display of foreign processes or services in their entirety to improve holistic migration or extension. To leverage Fibery’s extreme strength in building more clarity, overview and relationbased insight, information.

Ad interim exposing manual sync-triggers to action-buttons to be exposed for non-admin roles might possibly/hopefully be of smaller scope and great effect in one-way syncs and integrations and usability from Fibery platform view. Especially when coupled with target/original URLs, to swiftly edit/write directly in target systems.

But why we should implement something if no use cases? We usually react to feedback when it is backed by the need, completeness is not the need and we have 1000 of features/ideas in backlog. We try to do things that many people are asking for that are aligned with our own vision as well. Any “complete” integration takes a lot of time and we need justification to go for it
