Admin deletion of comments

I set up automations to add comments, but realised after the fact that they are posted by an anonymous bot user and cannot be edited even by the administrator account.

Is there a way for admins to delete comments?

Hi, it this still an issue for you?

  • Why can’t admins delete user comments? Particularly when they contain a) profanity, b) sensitive information, c) malicious links, or are d) irrelevant to the topic
  • Why can’t the original comment in a thread be deleted if it has replies?
  • Why can’t comments be treated like rich text for feed views?

I think these are relevant questions, even if they never become first-class

We are creating a public guide for one of our partners, and we were commenting on text and as comments while we were creating this guide.

Before sharing this publicly, I wanted to remove all the comments, so that we can share a clean page. However, I noticed that users cannot edit/remove other users their comments (which makes sense). So I logged in as Admin, and realized the admin cant do this either (which feels weird).

It would be nice if Admins can edit or delete comments from other users for cases like the one I just described.

The biggest comment pain points right now that I’d love to see addressed:

  • Allow us to delete comments
  • Let us mark comments as resolved
  • And as @AdVhPkgKad pointed out, give us control over renaming the “anonymous bot user” to something that actually makes sense
