Many times when editing fields in an entity, I click away from the right hand side panel when I’m doing it (e.g. to defocus an input), which causes the panel to disappear, losing all my edits and making me start all over again. 
It makes for a frustrating user experience.
Dismissing this panel should require something more explicit, like clicking on a close [ x ] cross icon, or with the current set-up at least prompting you “Are you sure? (You will lose your changes.)”, or similar.
