Today’s release is relatively small, but we’re working on several significant things, so in November releases will be more fancy.
New Space Setup is the new default
Space Setup is out of experimental and replaces old Space Setup. Main things you should pay attention to:
When you are Creator or Admin and click on Space name, Space will just expand. There is a special icon to navigate to Space Setup.
You can quickly switch Spaces in Space Setup via top menu.
You will resist the change at first, please give it one week and collect frustration and improvement points in the meantime.
And we have to re-do all user guides .
We are still working on many improvements in this area, including better Fields and Relations sections, better collapse/expand databases, etc. Any additional feedback is welcome!
Move Folders between Spaces
Now you can move Folder to another Space via Move to Space action or using drag and drop. We have no clear answer why we did not do it earlier…
Search Improvements
Semantic and keyword search results mixing is improved, and we hope you will have more relevant information on top in most of the cases.
Semantic Search works in Public Spaces now and show results from all databases that are In public space and added to semantic search. Try it in Fibery User Guide public space:
Rich Text and Documents loading time improved by 10-30% (depends on a specific document and use case). We’ve changed mechanisms how Fibery retrieves documents and with more parallelism it should feel faster .
Huge tooltips with a long formula calculations were annoying, so now they are hidden. Use Formula Description to explain formulas to users.
You can use multi-line captions for images and videos now.
Fixed Bugs
Confusing notification which leads to not found page after installing Clickup integration with specific schema
Navigation row is missing on publicly shared entities.
Merge fails with an error if database has rich text lookup.
AI Feedback processing:
Higlights not found for text in blockquotes.
Clustering fails when a user deleted Highlights DB and created it again.
Clustering fails with Cannot read properties of undefined (reading ‘from_date’) error.
Whiteboard:
Click on a external link should open in the panel to the right if it points to the same fibery Workspace.
Toolbar panel is not updated according to the pasted styles.
Corner radius should not be applied on pasting styles for Sticker Note.
Bring to and Send backward options should be hidden for locked objects.
I’ve been putting off learning the new space setup pages… time to dig my teeth into it!
I’m thankful for the ability to move folders. Since moving most of my business out of ClickUp I’ve been back and forward about how best to organize navigation (Organize by database or by function). This will speed up my tinkering.
Whatever you did with whiteboard is a HUGE improvement. I’ve always had this “finickyness” issue with my mouse and clicking to open at right panel. It had to be very precise or the card would move. Enormously helpful, user-friendly improvement.
I absolutely 100% feel the speed increase A LOT.
It would be nice if you could either (1) drag to make cards more narrow in whiteboard - OR - (2) be able to group cards yet still be able to click each individual card to open in right panel.
“Now you can move Folder to another Space via Move to Space action or using drag and drop. We have no clear answer why we did not do it earlier…”
Hallelujah! That’s great.
I was hoping this:
" * Click on a external link should open in the panel to the right if it points to the same fibery Workspace."
Meant open external links (e.g. reddit.com, or even better docs.com) thereby enabling you to (1) do that itself, which would be amazing and clearly enable you to (2) add “external resources” to the left navigation ala my long time ago suggestion to do that Coda-style, but better. Then all those miscreants who use Google Docs can play super well with fantastical Fibery.
The people space doesn’t have the “configure” icon or context menu item on it, so with the new space setup settings, is the only way we can access the users is through the workspace settings now?
If that’s the case, it’s just a useless menu item for us, unless we put a folder in it that lists users which we don’t want to do.
Wish it would either be:
treated as a “normal” database so I could put it under a different space
or
removed as a menu item in the sidebar since it serves us no purpose
or
updated so it can be “configured” via the sidebar, but it links to the user settings page like it used to
You seem to be talking about two different things: the People space and the User database.
It’s true that the People space does not have the configure option, but it still supports adding views (data views, docs, whiteboards) and folders (smart or otherwise).
It is also possible to use the + button on the People to invite new users, so overall I don’t consider it ‘useless’, but YMMV.
Having said that, being able to quickly navigate to the user management page of the settings has been lost.
There are already plans to revamp how the People ‘space’ and user management works (technically it actually isn’t a true space like other workspace spaces).
I used to be able to click on the People space and it would take me to the User database, but now that functionality is gone.
That was the only value of the People space menu item for us (although I know other people may use it differently), so now it’s just a dead end in the sidebar I’m wishing we could remove.
Looking forward to seeing how user/people management gets revamped so things are a little more seamless/flexible in the future.
Hey all, first time I am commenting in the Fiber Community. New user here (although I have experience with ClickUp and Airtable).
I had a question about the new Space Setup. Are the tabs for each database within the Space Screen no longer available?
