October 17, 2024 / šŸ¹ New Integrations settings page, Mix semantic and keyword search results, and more

Todayā€™s release has some quality of life improvements, and no major features. Pick something that you like and enjoy life!

New Settings Page: Integrations

Integrations section added to Settings, so integrations are easier to discover and browse.

Mix semantic and keyword search results

Semantic Search is always an extra click, can we avoid it? We tried to solve this problem in this release and mixed keyword and semantic search results. If you type just one word, it will be always keyword search, but for 2 or more words both results are visible right away.

We are still experimenting with this approach, so if you donā€™t like how it works, you can disable this feature in Settings ā†’ Experimental Lab.

Automation between Notifications Done state and user actions on entity and comments

We observed some problems in Inbox notifications, like users have to manually update both the notification and the task entity, even if one is already marked as complete, or when I resolve/reply to comments thread, notifications in Inbox are still visible.

Weā€™ve added a set of automatic rules that work for Inbox notifications and move them to Done state. Here are the rules:

  • When entity is moved to Final state by me, move all notifications for me to Done state
  • When I replied to some comment, move notification about all comments in this thread to Done in my Inbox.
  • When I marked some thread as Resolved, move all notifications about comments in this thread to Done in my Inbox.

The result isā€¦ less clicks!

Question for you: Maybe in case when a user adds an emoji reaction to a comment we should move notification about this comment to done  as well?

Quick Search in Views: Search in related entities Names

Sometimes it is needed to search by related entities in views. Now it works for all relation units visible on the view. For example, you can quickly filter features list by state, assigned people and product areas.

:butterfly: Improvements

  • Gmail OAuth is (technically) released and available, but security check procedure from Google is not fast. We are already a few weeks in the process, so there is hope that it will be finalized in November. You can use it and setup Gmail sync via OAuth, but donā€™t be scared too much by Googleā€™s unsafe warning .
  • Fibery Gmail sync has Email URL field now, and you can jump to Gmail from Fibery with a single click.
  • Entity View performance improved (rendering).
  • + button added to one-to-many collections in Entity View to reduce cognitive load for assigning more people or adding more entities to the collection.

:shrimp: Fixed Bugs

Integrations:

  • ClickUp: error on sync if there are 2 files in config.
  • Slack bot stopped work for @assign user use case.
  • Rename integration sync frequencies.
  • Error on sync data from Airtable integration.
  • Email: Custom folders donā€™t sync.

Other fixes:

  • Table View: Buttons are moved to the end of the table view if the Space was imported from template.
  • Wrong message in tooltip when user tries to disable auto-link rules in relation.
  • Automatic access property is disabled for relation to user in the imported Space even with Pro subscription.
  • Admin canā€™t create space level view in People space.
  • Feedback Clustering: Zero-size array to reduction operation maximum which has no identity error fixed.

P.S. Share your , :people_hugging:,, and :magic_wand:.

With love and care, your Fibery Team.

If weā€™re not going to add a quick view search filter for the Sidebar, can we please have some sort of toggles added to search for Spaces, Databases, and Views only?

As Iā€™ve expressed numerous times, finding a view nested within ā€œSome Spaceā€ and ā€œSome Folderā€, navigating directly to ā€œSome Spaceā€ or navigating to ā€œSome Databaseā€ is so much more tedious when you have to ā€œGo to searchā€¦ remember the exact nameā€¦ find within a sea of entitiesā€¦ā€ or scroll down Fibery Sidebar to find a needle in a haystack (itā€™s even worse when many spaces and folders are expanded).

Currently, you cannot search spaces in the main search, only entities, databases, and views. When searching a keyword, databases and views are not prioritized, they are mixed in with other entities. Weā€™d like the ability to quickly identify a Space in Search and navigate to it, then select our views from there.

We often strategically place views, smart folders, etc, within a space, and you donā€™t always remember exactly where they are. I still believe a quick view search like we have for Tables and Timeline view is the way to go for Sidebar, where we can at least grey out non-matching sidebar items by filtered keywords or at least highlight them for easy finding, but it seems Fibery team does not share this view, so can implement a better way to navigate to a space, database or view without the clutter?

Thanks for this!

Wowā€¦ Youā€™ve made at least one of your customers VERY happy with this one. In the past Iā€™ve cooked up a bunch of hacks to get something similar, which I now get to delete! Woohoo!

Iā€™ll echo the earlier sentiment ā€“ one of my biggest ā€œproblemsā€ with Fibery is Iā€™ve just barely had time to review the newest, greatest updates before Iā€™m hit with a bunch more the next week! You guys are incredible!

How does one remove gmail account once itā€™s been connected to fibery without deleting the entire database?

We now have 2 connections to the same gmail account, one that uses the legacy app password method and one using the new oauth method, but I donā€™t see any way to disconnect the former.

You can disable the integration (and convert the databases to native Fibery dbs). Itā€™s one of the options in the integration settings.

I want to keep the integration, just worried that having 2 connections to the same account will cause issues, like double messages. If you donā€™t think itā€™s problem, I wonā€™t worry about it!

Each integration will use a single account (incl authentication method) so you should be able to remove unused ones no problem. But if things are working fine, no need to do anything!

Thatā€™s what Iā€™m saying, I donā€™t see a way to individually remove unused accounts as thereā€™s no ā€œXā€ or ā€œRemoveā€ option next to the accounts in that dropdown.

The only option is to ā€œDisconnect and migrateā€ or ā€œDelete and removeā€ the entire integration, which will blow up the whole thing and Iā€™m not trying to do.

Sounds like it wonā€™t be a problem though, so I worry about it for now.

Out of interest, what do you see on the integrations page (where you would choose to install a new integration from)?

Aha! I see the option to delete them there. I was getting to the settings from the database configuration screen before that doesnā€™t have trash bin icons on it. Thanks!
