New item sorted by descending date vanishes before date can be entered

I like to keep my most recent meetings at the top of my table. So I sort by descending date. When I create a new one (for today or tomorrow), before I can enter the date, it just drops to the very bottom. So I have to scroll down and “rescue” it.
