March 6, 2025 / đŸŒ± Referral Program, Understand where entity access is coming from

Spring is here! First spring release brings you the referral program, and many small improvements here and there.

:seedling: Referral Program

You can now spread the word about Fibery and earn credits as a thank-you!

How it works:

  1. Navigate to Referrals and Credits page in Settings to find and share your unique referral link.
  2. Your friend gets $50 in Fibery credits when they sign up.
  3. Once they spend $100 as a Fibery customer, you get $100 in credits.

No limits — invite as many friends as you want. Share your referral link via social media, private Slack channels, DMs, or any other creative way you can think of.

Give it a try and let us know how it goes. :love_letter:

Check out the user guide for more details.

:frog: Understand where entity access is coming from

There are numerous ways to receive access to an entity: directly, through another entity with extended access, on the Space or Database level, individually or as a member of a Group.

While all these options provide unmatched flexibility, sometimes it’s tricky to understand what someone can do with an entity and where the access is coming from.

This is when access audit comes in handy:

In this update, we’ve redesigned the drill-down for clarity. Now access is grouped by source, manual sharing is distinguished from automatic sharing via a Field, and Groups are clearly identified.

:leaf_fluttering_in_wind: Sidebar: search in both tabs

Search in sidebar shows results from both tabs (Workspace and Personal) now. You can find things faster (and without tabs switch).

:butterfly: Improvements

  • Whiteboard: Present action is moved to the toolbar, it will help users to notice that presentation mode is enabled
  • Batch Actions: Now you can invoke Batch Actions from Table View on right click
  • Copy to Markdown action added to context menu everywhere
  • Sidebar:
    • Collapse All action collapses items only in active tab
    • A special button added to move all Spaces into top section with a single click

:shrimp: Fixed Bugs

  • Required fields:
    • The Required Field toggle is present in the Formula Field settings.
    • Restoring an Entity with a required Text field results in an Oops error.
    • Don’t show the required relation if it’s created from the required relation (sorry for the stupid bug name).
    • There is a misleading toast when a user unlinks an entity from a required relation.
  • Table view:
    • The value entered in a percent cell unexpectedly gets multiplied by 100.
    • There is an error when pasting on the table to a user reference field.
    • Data isn’t fetched when changing the Table/List view setup after the user removes all databases.
  • Not informative error if selecting an empty file in CSV import (old).
  • Timeline View: New entity placeholder doesn’t disappear on timeline if press Esc.
  • Integrations: Email auth type duplicating in the list.
  • [Safari] Files: Images may get stuck in a broken state.
  • The group icon doesn’t display when selected in the ‘Add users or groups’ input.
  • Permissions: Submitters can’t create new entities from a form.
  • The Smart folder gets collapsed/expanded on click in the ‘Create new entity’ pop-up.
  • ‘Copy as markdown’ should be hidden when entities from different databases are selected.

P.S. I want to remind you that Fibery is European company. Just in case

This looks amazing, I don’t know when you started cooking it (if it’s new or something you started months ago) but it looks like it will be incredibly useful, especially for multi-tenant situations like in our case, with different clients needing access to different projects.

This sounds great! But I admit I’m not seeing it yet – can you post a snippet or more explanation of this one?

I wonder if this is tied to the deprecation of the various sidebar sections recently. Since I’ve already moved everything to the top-level section, perhaps it’s not showing for me (?)

Yes, if you moved all the things — then no button for you, all done!

This is great! I love seeing where access is coming from! Just one UX suggestion: I feel like it would be best to display users having access first (at the top of the list) in the access audit.

Hm, users with no access to an entity shouldn’t be present in the access audit in the first place. Do you have someone with no capabilities displayed here?

Oh, I was just looking at all the blue/gray icons. I see now that the other users have submitter access to the database. But I guess this is another question: If a user has submitter access to a database, should they be shown in the access audit for an entity?

They should not, since the right to create new entities doesn’t apply to existing entities and is only managed at the Database level.

Databases will eventually have their own access audit.

Ok, well “database submitter access” is the only reason I can think of for all these users to appear in the access audit for an entity. Is this a bug?

Interestingly, it says “Shared with 13 users” here, but on the previous window it correctly says “Shared with 4 user”

That’s a bug, thank you for the heads-up!

When people view public pages and click the “Try Fibery” button, is that tied to this new referral program?

Hi!

No, it’s not tied to the referral program yet (you need to share the referral link directly), but we’ve considered implementing it if we receive several requests. Would you use it to share templates, docs, or something else? :eyes:

Love the idea! That would be great to have by default.

No, I plan on sharing more pages as public facing documents (see Coda or Notion pages as comparative use cases)
Although I’ll use my partner code for clients I refer, when sharing Fibery at Dev showcases or even Job Descriptions the try fibery button is always visible.
