Make Timeline search and indexing similar to Gantt

I was comparing a Gantt to a Timeline view for our equipment booking system, and realized some annoying differences.

Gantt can search all entities (both the ones in the Lanes as well as the Items), the TimeLine view can only search the actual items. I get that the setup is different (they are groups in Gantt, and lanes for the TimeLine), but it would be really handy to be able to search for these in the timeline as well.

  • Additionally, Gantt can search for info in the fields as well as the name of the entities themselves, while TimeLine can only look at the name of the entity. Adding this to the timeline would be an amazing feature (example, we give our equipment a name, and a research id. Which one we look for changes on a case-by-case basis).

More suprising to me is that TimeLines can NOT index all items (unless you press the show all button) while the Gantt view CAN show all these items (without a view all button). Can we please make this option available for TimeLines as well?

We use our booking page to show:

  1. All equipment
  2. All bookings related to that equipment
  3. Create new bookings

The timeline view has the advantage that it only shows entites within the current time range (which is real handy and way easier to view). However it lacks some nice features that Gantt already got.
