We have a Location in our CRM for our prospects, and a common task is “which prospects live close to a given city”. Unfortunately right now this task is very difficult to manage:
In a List view, I’d happily apply a Location filter, such as “within 25 miles of this address” or “inside this state”. However, neither are possible - Location only supports substring filters (?!) which is good enough for state or exact city matches, but it won’t find someone who lives in Mountain View for an event in the nearby Sunnyvale, Palo Alto, Los Altos, Los Gatos, Redwood City, San Mateo, Fremont, or other nearby Bay Area cities.
Then maybe Context Views can also use it in the future. You open a “City” entity, and you can see inside not the related people, but the “People within City” based on that person’s address.
Cool idea!
I think I recall the Fibery team saying that Map and Location fields were always a bit of an extra thing and it wasn’t prioritized in the past. So I don’t see this coming soon, but it’s a cool idea none-the-less.
Maybe when we can create Custom Apps as Entity Views, + make out own reusable views using AI, this can be something you can add into your AI made filters! (less ideal, but functional)
FYI with Fibery’s new Custom Apps feature, I simply vibe-coded what I need! Took about 15 minutes, almost all of which was Fibery’s thinking time, rather than my thinking time I just told it that I want an app that has a map on the left, and a checkbox list of individuals visible on the map on the right, plus a selector of Shortlists (an entity in my database for making lists of people) and a button “Add selected individuals to shortlist”.
I think having distances would also be awesome, and if these custom apps could use phone GPS to put another marker down (“You are here”).
Our guys are out in the field travelling between towns daily. It’d be very useful for them to know “these are the X businesses within Y distance from you”.
