Drag and drop multiple items in a backlog?

Is it not possible to drag and drop multiple items to re-order them in a list view?

I’ve been evaluating Fibery and it seems awesome, and was planning a go-live for my team on Monday. But when rehearsing a data migration yesterday, I discovered that apparently it’s impossible to re-prioritize a backlog by dragging and dropping multiple items. This seems like such a basic feature - am I just doing it wrong?

I figured out that I can multi-select with Option-Click and Shift-Click (but Shift-Click doesn’t work reliably). But then once I have multiple items selected, if I drag them to somewhere new in the ordering, only one item changes rank.

Brave on macOS, if that matters.

If this doesn’t work, how does anybody manage backlog ordering? One card at a time?

(Semi-related: it looks like bulk editing across more than 2 databases doesn’t work? I added an “Overhead” database in addition to the Sprint and Story databases, and now apparently that means I can’t bulk-edit the Priority field, either!)

@Nathan_Arthur I reported this issue a while ago, it’s in fact not implemented. It’s a known UX issue.

Alternatively you can use batch actions…when you select multiple entities, actions bar appears at the bottom of the app.

OK, thank you for confirming. And yeah, I found the batch actions, but apparently they don’t work at all when there are three or more databases in the list of selected items. So I spent part of my Saturday reworking the whole data model into fewer databases.

Where did you report it - just here on the forum? Or is there a feature/bug system somewhere (where you reported it) that I could “vote” for this to be fixed?

I think it is the case that batch editing will not work if there are entities selected from two or more dbs.

Feel free to post it as a feature request here in the community.

Oh! I had tested this carefully, but apparently not carefully enough. I’ve re-tested, and it looks like it’s buggy:

  1. If I select records from two distinct databases (in a list view), using the keyboard (shift+click), the UI shows me the little toolbar at the bottom and appears to allow editing arbitrary fields.
  2. But then if I do actually make a change, it only affects a single record!
    1. Which maybe corresponds to the also-buggy behavior where the little toolbar says “1 selected” even though I have two items selected? That number always seems to be off by one, though, even if I select records from the same database.
  3. However, if I select two records (from two databases) by using the mouse to drag (which I didn’t even know was possible until today), then the little toolbar says “Can’t edit multiple databases”.
  4. If I select records from three databases, using either keyboard or mouse, it says “Can’t edit multiple databases”.

FWIW all these multi-select features feel very half-implemented - there are a bunch of other weird issues with how shift-click work, and cmd+click, and weird states where it seems to think I have cmd pressed even though I don’t, and so on. And my original issue, that I can’t re-rank multiple items at once, is nearly a blocking-level problem for us. We’re going ahead with our go-live today, but I hope you all will prioritize some attention to these issues soon.

Thanks for clarifying these distinct (buggy) behaviours. Hopefully our devs will fix them asap.
