Hi Fibery team ![]()
We ran into a usability issue with Whiteboards that feels quite important for larger boards.
Current behavior:
-
Create a Whiteboard / Section / Rectangle
-
Use Copy Link to Object
-
Paste the link into a task description, comment, document, etc.
-
Click the link
What we expected:
-
Automatically zoom to the target object
-
Center it on screen
-
Temporarily highlight / flash / select the object so it is immediately obvious what the viewer should look at
What currently happens:
-
In some cases it only opens the board
-
Sometimes it navigates approximately to the area (depending on zoom)
-
The object itself is not highlighted or selected
The problem becomes much more noticeable on large boards.
If a board contains many sections, tasks, diagrams, or planning areas, sending someone to the board is often not enough. The whole purpose of sharing a link to a specific object is to direct attention to a particular section, rectangle, or area.
This is something tools like Figma handle very well:
-
open the board
-
center the target
-
clearly indicate what was linked
Without this, people often arrive on the correct board but still have to manually search for the object they were supposed to review.
Would it be possible for object links to:
-
zoom to the object,
-
center it,
-
and briefly highlight/select it?
This would make object links much more useful for collaboration and reviews on larger whiteboards.
