BUG: References aren't created for entities linked in Documents

If I link-to (Ctrl+L) or create (Ctrl+E) an entity inline in a Document, the Document does not show up in the entity’s References.

This breaks the ability of Rules to automate entity creation setup via a reference :worried: e.g. using the new entity’s “creation context” (a reference to the containing entity/doc) to set up fields like the related Project, Workflow assignment, etc.

Is this likely to get fixed, or is it a permanent feature of Documents?

Hmm, this should work if I get the problem. When you create an Entity X from Document A, the document A should be visible in Entity X references.

FWIW, I stumbled on this post when I was looking for something and I think this bug is fixed?

At least, when I tested to link to a entity from inside a Document today, it seems to work as I expected.

:white_check_mark: When linking from a Document contained in an entity to another entity, reference is added

:white_check_mark: When linking from a Document contained in an entity to the same entity, reference is added

:x: When linking from a Document you’ve created in your My Space area, reference is not added

  • But I don’t expect that to work, since My Space area is private to the User

There is a small delay as you link until the reference is added, but that feels expected.
