April 10, 2025 / Sharing whiteboard externally, some improvements

Yet another quality of life release. I promise some significant features will come eventually. Maybe even in April. I mean April 2025 .

Sharing whiteboard externally

Now you can share your whiteboard with external people or embed it in a website, blog, or other applications. Note: External viewers can only view the current whiteboard and comments; they cannot add or modify content.

AI Formula for automations

Now you can generate formulas using AI in automation rules as well. It can save you some time and cognitive load, formulas syntax is always hard to learn.

:butterfly: Improvements

  • Old Users settings page has been deprecated in favor of managing Users just like any other Database
  • Required fields:
    • When you create an entity with required fields from Search, you will enjoy an inlined UI and can create entities faster without pop-ups.
    • Required fields have been restyled. The unpleasant yellow color has been replaced with a pleasant blue star. Enjoy.
  • We’ve changed New button behaviour again in Views based on your feedback. Here are the changes:
    • Default form is removed from the list of available forms to not confuse users
    • You can set default form per View. Click … near a form and select Set as Default option. It will be selected automatically on this View when a user clicks New button
    • In Feed View New button does not show a popup, but inline entity creation instead

:shrimp: Fixed Bugs

  • Users settings
    • Rename ā€˜No space’ to ā€˜Default Space’ in all places where User DB is mentioned
    • Issue with creating new database on adding relation to User DB
    • Wrong icon in Fields list for User role
    • Provide list of views for User DB in ā€˜Go to’ menu
  • Templates
    • Template sharing fails when on importing entity with required User relation and no value can be set
    • Views from default space are not imported with shared workspace template if it contains only 1 Space
  • Required fields
    • Behavior on clearing required values in Table should be equal for all types of fields
    • Error on removing entity used as value for required field should be replaced by the toast
  • Table View:
    • Error and full rank recalculation on reordering entity to the end of list
    • ā€˜Button deleted or disabled’ is displayed in column for just added button
  • Quick Add
    • Submit by cmd+enter does not work in quick add form when focus is set on ā€˜Create’ button
    • Empty quick add form if DB name is generated by formula and there is no required fields and rich text fields
    • Create button does not work for context view for many to many relation
  • Entity duplication. Fibery user instead of a real user who triggered the action is mentioned in document history
  • Inbox: ā€œdoneā€ / ā€œlaterā€ buttons only appear after mouseover the title bar
  • Whiteboard: export as PNG doesn’t work if it contains any Image uploaded by User

This is awesome.
I was actually saying yesterday ā€œit would be nice if we could share this externally, just like with documentsā€.

However, I can’t help but notice a bit of a sleight of hand happening here: shared whiteboards do not have the sidebar. I’m actually a fan of this as it relates to the Public spaces and tenant separation issues I ran into.
If we could get a similar option for sharing documents (without the sidebar) then it would solve a lot of complications for companies stuck in a similar situations with ours.

We could share a public document with each tenant, there will be no sidebar so none of the tenants would see each other, and then we could embed views in that document or link to the publicly shared whiteboards.

No need to apologise for refinements. I think a tic-toc approach is good: Bigger release, then refine. :slightly_smiling_face:

If you share a single document, the sidebar hides just like it does on the whiteboard. Could you please show a case with the sidebar in your setup?

Small but powerful and much welcomed!

Just a note that when using a Feed view in an Entity where the view is currently empty, this makes the form hard to fill in unless you click the expand button:

AI in automations formula is far and away my favorite feature here.. HUGE win, since even our code peeps have trouble remembering some of the nuances / formulas there
