Allow fields in a Button User Input Form to have existing or default values prepopulated

It would be very handy to have default values prepopulated in Button user input forms.

That would allow users a one-click entity creation in an automation, while still allowing them to adjust field values.

Yes! I’m also waiting on this. I’ll add as well (not sure if more or less complicated to implement) but also in internal form views, same thing could be said.

Although the example above is for ‘Add Item’ the same and even more important is needed for the ‘Update item’ button form field, which also shows empty fields.

I would like to support this feature request.

We have an equipment list, and we have a “Book Now” button on all our equipment, but right now users MUST provide the full date/time, while many quick-bookings are just for that day.
We would be really happy if we can pre-fill using a formula (not a fixed value, but actual formula). This would allow us to use the current date-time as start, and a fixed date-time as end. While still allowing the user to change it.

I’m still missing the ability to prepopulate fields (incl rich text fields) or show existing values in button form fields (updating or creating entity and its fields).

This would be a big UX improvement.

There was an effort related to public forms, maybe this can somehow be implemented in button forms, under the hood?

Here is a common use case.

  • I’m able to filter the dropdown selector, which is good, but I’m not able to display a default display value (e.g. Executive Summary).
  • I could add a checkbox ‘Use default Summary’ but that would not show what the default Summary actually is, so useless.

Agree, no more votes left please consider +1.

Apart from default values I also like users to be informed of what will be happening, or how they fill in the button form.

This is very user unfriendly to only show the field names.

At least I would like the ability to have a read-only field show up that gives guidance to th user, such as this case below where the user is absolutely unclear about what will happen when either executing or what instruction is supposed to be inserted.

Also, end users are confused about ‘Update - Set new values for fields’ - it is redundant in most cases and should be optional.
