Allow creating filter groups with filters from different databases

If the field names are different across databases, there is no way to pin a filter that will affect multiple databases. I want a filter for “Mine” that will show all my projects i am owner, and tasks I am assigned.

If I understand correctly, there’s no way to do that currently, right?

If you’re talking about a single filter, then no I don’t think you can. As a workaround, what I do is create a view called “My Tasks” then then each level has a “contains Me” filter applied to it.

Makes sense! But then there’s no pinned filters right? This works in multi-relation views as you can have pinned views (kind of acting as pinned filters) but my use case is in the top level views… :///

Yeah, it only works in relation views unfortunately. I don’t really use other views because they’re so contextually limiting There really does need to be a way to change to multiple views within a view itself. I think I created a feature request for that already somewhere…

If I had a vote I would give it here. My use case right now is for a company/contact table view. I want to filter so people can see only the contacts they are assigned. But then you see a lot of empty companies. And hiding the companies when empty of contacts won’t work. So the only option is to create a duplicate view in the left sidebar which just adds clutter.

How come? What’s the problem with that as an option?

This feature works in many cases, but not for this specific view. Because it assumes that every company already has a contact attached. Which isn’t always true. For us, this view is for seeing all companies and contacts. Now if I could combine hide company if empty and filter contacts to my assignees into a single button, then that would solve it.

Could you add a field in the company db with the same name as the one in the contacts db that just lookups the assignees in from the related contact?

Why does the same name matter? If I create a filter button from the company db using a lookup, then it would filter the companies down but show a bunch of contacts inside those companies that aren’t assigned to me.

Unless I’m missing something, my only options are create a second view or create a second filter button, both are clutter

I mean, add a lookup on the database itself, not in the filter.

Fields with the name + type are grouped together in sorts and filters. So you’ll find the field in “All Databases” and not only in each one individually.

If your assigneee of the contacts is a single assignee, and not a multi person select, then this will actually not work

Great idea though! I had forgotten about the all database filtering. But yeah not in this use case
