Some more issues that make the whiteboard #sections hard to use:

  1. Managing sections is tough as I generally find myself drawing them later by adding a section and the resizing it to contain what I want. But then I still need to select all items and place them. And they get placed at the relative top left… which makes resizing behaviour strange.
  2. Selecting multiple items in a section by dragging is not possible
  3. When scrolling, sometimes items disappear.

While I like the idea of sections, I have to say that they feel very half-baked and so we generally do not use them. I think Whimsical does generally a good job, but a comparison there is a little unfair. Why probably would make things easier is:

  1. Allow groups to be turned into sections and also to remove sections without removing their contents by some kind of command like “ungroup section”
  2. Only anchor items in a section when moving the section, not when resizing it
  3. Decide if arrows are full-fledged members of the whiteboard like shapes or not :slightly_smiling_face:

Overall, I think Sections may need re-think for us to be useful. :sweat:

Lastly, forgot to say that it’s really hard to see what items are in a section and which are not… so when exporting a PNG it’s easy to lose elements (arrows) that did not get placed on the section.

Thank you again for your feedback. This is the first implementation of frames (sections) we are using, and we are currently working on updating it. All these issues are current and being addressed. :hugs:

Hi @Alex, here some more issues with the whiteboard (from Chrome). :face_with_peeking_eye:

  1. Relations toggle turns on again (similar with other settings like grid, etc.), somehow it would be good to be able to set a default as a user :slightly_smiling_face:
  2. Deleting a group of objects briefly shows the connectors differently
  3. Selecting and grouping items generally works, but if any line was manually placed, it doesn’t become part of the group
  4. Moving groups with shapes and arrows onto a section doesn’t always place the arrows onto the section.
  5. Moving the group suddenly offset from my cursor (0:57 to 0:58)

Lastly, is it possible to add an Export as image option to a selection (or group), so that one does not have to use Sections?

I also noticed that the resolution is worse when choosing Export as PNG on the full whiteboard than on the Section.

Some more strange behaviour: Undoing (CMD+Z) moving s group onto a section moves it elsewhere:
