Hi Fibery team :slightly_smiling_face:! We gathered feedback from teams that use the boards extremely actively and extensively—as one of their primary work tools. We tried to draft proposals to enhance the board’s capabilities in Fibery. 1. Navigation speed and comfort (Main issue) Part of our team moved to Fibery from Figma, and the main thing causing resistance is not missing features — it’s that moving! around the board and zooming feel slower and less responsive and laggy. And two specific things: 1.1 Faster zoom, or a zoom sensitivity setting. The current zoom step is too small. On a large board it takes a long time to get to the scale you need  . 1.2 Quick zoom to the selected object, for exmple on a key like Z. Cmd+1 zooms to fit the whole board and Cmd+0 gives 100%, but what we need is “show me what I just selected”. People compare Fibery to Figma on how fast they can move around, not on what the tool can do. 2. Problems 2.1 Changes are lost when the internet connection drops If something happens to the connection while saving, the changes are not saved and disappear completely from the open tab. No warning, no way to get them back. One person hit this three times in a short period — she came back to the board and her work was gone. 2.2 Links inside a card don’t work when the card is opened from the whiteboard We put links to other objects on whiteboard inside the task spec (Rich Text). If we open the task by clicking its card on the whiteboard and then click a link, nothing happens — the linked object doesn’t open. We don’t jump to object. 2.3 Stickers look blurry or render at the wrong scale after active zooming After zooming in and out for a while, stickers become blurry or are drawn at a wrong scale. 2.4 A new section doesn’t pick up objects if it’s created over an existing section If we have two stickers and draw a section over them, they get included — that works. But if the stickers are already inside a section and we draw another section over them, the new section doesn’t pick them up. It looks like nesting breaks the capture behavior. 2.5 Object moves are not in Activity and can’t be restored Deleted objects are handled well — they show up in Activity and can be restored. Moves are not: they aren’t logged in Activity at all, so an accidental move can’t be undone once you reload the page, come back in a new session, or if someone else moved the object. This actually happened to us: zoom glitched while the cursor was over a rectangle holding all the planned tasks, and the rectangle was thrown far outside the working area. It took about 20 minutes to find it in a completely different part of the board, and there was nothing in Activity to roll it back. **3. Extra Ideas 3.1 Colors for entity cards on the whiteboard** Task cards on the board are always grey. We’d like to color them by a field — status in our case — so the board can be read at a glance.Color rules already exist in Timeline, Map, Board and Gallery views. 3.2 Buttons actions in the three dot menu on the board with entities It would help to have buttons available in the menu of a entity on the board. For example to copy card (regular copy or duplication too simple for us and we have custom buttons for this) 3.3 Text size presets for whiteboard objects Presets like S / M / L / XL, or a Header option, for text objects on the board. Right now setting up a readable hierarchy of labels takes a lot of manual resizing.** Thank you!**:star_struck:

Just for clarification  : those teams don’t actually create content there; instead, they use the space to set tasks. As a result, these are massive boards packed with sticky notes, images, videos, text, entities, connections, and so on. It serves as a primary planning hub where other teams come to check tasks and other information.

First of all thank you for the such comprehensive report! Can we contact somebody directly in order to deal with Comfort problems and issues? We will be happy to solve as much of them as possible, but we need some more information (you can reach me directly on vadim at fibery.io)

Hi @vadim and the Fibery team :slightly_smiling_face: , Following up on this thread with real numbers. Our creative producers moving their planning boards from FigJam (Figma) to Fibery whiteboards. The main complaint: big boards are very slow  . Zooming and moving around lag a lot, while a similar (even bigger) board in FigJam feels smooth. On Windows and MacBooks Pro. We can’t share the board itself (it has internal information), so we measured it instead. **The measurements were done by Claude** Claude only read the page and measured. Nothing on the board was changed. **One of our board** 4,772 elements: 1,453 entity cards, 963 pictures, 376 videos, ~600 sticky notes, ~680 shapes, 350 sections, ~340 text boxes Started on Feb 2026. It grows by ~580 elements and ~46 videos per month **What Claude measured in Fibery on Board** Zoom: ~4 frames per second (each zoom step takes 210–280 ms) Pan: ~9 frames per second Zooming over an empty part of the board is just as slow (~230 ms per step) **What Claude measured on FigJam Board: same PC, same browser, same window** Our FigJam board (first page only): ~12,600 objects, 2,613 videos, ~3,600 images, 1,504 sections. That’s 2.6× more objects and 7× more videos Zoom: 25–27 frames per second. Pan: ~30 So FigJam zooms ~7× faster and pans ~3× faster, on a much bigger board **What we found (measured)** **Videos are the main cause.** Everything is drawn on one canvas, but each video is a separate HTML video player on top of it. All 376 players stay on the page, even far off screen. On every zoom or pan step Fibery moves all 376 of them, and the browser has to recalculate the page layout. That takes about half of each frame. When Claude hid the video players in its own browser (CSS only, the board was not changed), zoom frame time dropped by 75–80%: zoom went from ~4 to 15–21 fps, pan from ~9 to ~22 fps. Drawing itself is not the bottleneck: in one 213 ms frame (over an empty area), only ~10 ms was spent in canvas drawing calls. Pictures are not the problem: they are drawn from reduced previews (640×800). The mini map has almost no effect. When the board opens, all videos start loading at once: about 80 minutes of video were downloaded in the first minute, even though at “fit to screen” each video is only 4×4 pixels. FigJam has no video players on the page at all. Its 2,613 videos are drawn as a preview with a Play button, and a player appears only after you press Play. **Our guesses (not proven)** Even without videos, the board seems to process all 4,772 elements on every frame, including off-screen ones. Claude saw ~10,000 canvas save/restore calls per frame, even over an empty area. Skipping off-screen elements should help a lot. The board grows every month, so it will only get slower. *Maybe it will help* Show videos as a preview on the canvas. Create a real player only when the user presses Play. Don’t preload all videos when the board opens. Don’t process off-screen elements on every frame. Goal: smooth zoom and pan on a board of ~5,000 elements, like in FigJam. You can reproduce this without our data: put 300–400 videos on a test board and zoom in and out. Happy to run more checks if needed. Thanks! :star_struck:

Thanks for the detailed investigation  We’ll look into how we can improve performance on large boards, especially those with lots of videos. I’m also curious about your workflow, what do you typically use such large boards for?

Unsure whether I should start a separate thread or not but… A quality of life idea I had just now was cropping pasted images. I’m familiar with the implementation of this is excalidraw which is a double click allows you to crop the image. Love whiteboards!
