I think the simplies option is to ,login” as specific user and see everything withoit the ability to make changes.

My use case was mainly about being able to see the main navigation and what is visible. As Admin, I would have been OK to not see the things hidden from me.

Same here. Permission system is robust and I have to create new user and login as the user to get the idea.
