Thread permissions

I wanted to create thread to make communication for guests / commenters (not sure how are they called nowadays) but this feature has no permission. I can create Thread in general space and link it to any entity. Then everybody sees this tread and can comment.

Problem is that threads have no permission. If I create thread linked to the entity then only person that has permission to see and comment the entity should be able to see the thread. But current setup allows anybody comment to the entity they are not assigned to.

Second option is to have permission to threads.

Feature itself have big potential but without any permission it cannot be used actively with commenters.

Threads are now visible for everybody as item in menu. When I click on thread itself I cannot see entity it is linked to and also cannot comment or see content if I’m not part of the entity. So partially it is working but in general I shouldn’t be seeing threads that are not par of my access. Seems like partially developed feature to me now. Hope it will be fixed because if I create 50 threads then person without any entity will still see 50 threads with no content.

Indeed. Threads are an experimental feature.

I understand that but this seems like something that is partially solved and mostly bug since I actually cannot see the Thread content or entity but only the thread as menu item. I was told via support that this won’t be solved by devs since it’s beta.

Is this something that will eventually be developed or thread view will be abandoned? It seems like threads are in beta for a few years now. I was almost able to utilize Fibery for customer usage but threads strange behavior is messing with the sidebar and people see everything even it is not connected to them at all. I understand there are other priorities but I just wanted to know if threads will be forgotten or developed in the future.

Good thing is that people don’t see threads dropdown at all but still it is not behaving the same way as another entities. Even if person is not part of the entity they can see the thread itself without content. When I create 50 threads and only 1 is accessible by person. Person still see 50 threads.

My final missing piece in the Fibery usage for clients

Yes, we do want to improve Threads and solve major problems, I hope we will get back to it this or early next year. We’ve accumulated enough use cases and problems to address them, but please do not expect things in October or November here.
