I often have entities I want to display in a certain linear, hieratical format even though they may have non-linear relationships to other entities on the canvas.
With “Show entities relations” on, it shows how they all connect with no regard to hierarchy so there’s lines everywhere. While this is technically an accurate representation of how everything is related behind the scenes, sometimes I want to show only certain relationships and not all of them.
It would be great if you could “hide” the relationship line if you wanted. Currently the only way to keep “Show entities relations” on and not show the line is to literally unlink them which I don’t want to do!
We ran into a similar issue but I’m not sure what the solution should be. Maybe some specific use cases/examples would help.
In our situation we decided to split the boards into different sub-boards which would only show the relevant entities and their relationships.
Here’s a common example of the issues I’m having with the “Collections” feature in conjunction with the “Show Relations” feature.
If I want all “pages” of a “site” to be automatically mapped on a whiteboard, I can toggle on the collections setting on the “site” entity to display it’s related “pages”. It puts every single page on a single row.
Not all pages are created equal though, as some are children of others. I want to visually nest the sub-pages under their parent pages, so I use a second collections setting on the “page” entity to display it’s related “sub-pages”
Now I’m getting the visual hierarchy I want! However almost all the pages have two relationship lines on them now which is very overwhelming. 1) Site → Pages and 2) Page → Sub-Pages
I wish I could hide the Site → Page relationship lines for any page that has a parent page, as I only really want to see how all pages and their children are related.
