Currently, Fibery entity cards open in a Side Panel, which is convenient for quick edits when dealing with a relatively small number of tasks/records. However, when managing large datasets or complex views, a Modal View for Entities would be a significant improvement [the modal should allow for direct data editing (editing text, changing statuses, uploading files…) instantly within the window, maintaining the same functionality as the current Side Panel]
Configurable per View: The choice between Side Panel and Modal can be available within the View settings (maybe individually for Table, Board, Whiteboard, etc.). It would be great to fix the modal’s position — for example, in the center or the bottom-right of the screen. Additionally, an option to toggle the background dimming (overlay) would be very helpful.
In tables with many rows and columns containing nested data, a Modal View allows users to inspect details without obscuring a large portion of the main table with the Side Panel. On Whiteboards, this would allow for quick entity previews while keeping the surrounding canvas visible and unobstructed. For many teams, a centered modal is a more familiar and efficient pattern for these specific view types.
Alternative Suggestion: If a full Modal View is difficult to implement immediately, a helpful interim step would be allowing users to manually adjust the Side Panel width, though we believe a true Modal View is the superior long-term solution.
