Here it is way more tricky. In general we will not allow external users to modify core things in Fibery. For 2-way sync we have to implement a proper framework and then it will be possible, but things like colors in rich text fields ā most likely never.
Wow! Really? Am I understanding this correctly: You plan on providing a view type that use custom arbitrary frontend code that ties into the Fibery backend to build whatever we want but have it accessible as a view in Fibery?
I only thought of this when writing that feedback, but reflecting on it the last few days it could be really interesting direction and who knows what might come from giving users the freedm to build their own views.
we would be very happy to build on top of something like this
my point here wasnt that we should be able to edit core things in fibery, it was that we shouldnt have to. our developers were laughing about this being requested in 2020 in the community and not being done yet. i had to try and defend my choice of fibery as a tool and felt a bit embarrassed, surely claude code could fix that for you in no time at all? i think there are lots of requests like that which look pretty bad not being done in this ai age.
I canāt say about exact implementation now, but general intention is correct, we want to provide extensions points AND provide tools to create custom UI on top of Fibery API and databases.
Extensions points are easier (new Embed View, widgets on Dashboard, etc).
Set of tools and environment to host these apps/extensions is harder, but we are going to dig into this soon enough
There are indeed some tasks that AI can do relatively fast. Last week we released Folders in Favorites because AI + Dev did it in several hours. However, it is not so easy to identify such features fast and you still have to have humans to do that.
Development speed is increasing, but it is not even 2x faster than before. Most things are still hard for AI Agent to do right. We are learning.
BravĆsimo on your thinking! Implementation is secondary, as long as your thinking and approach is so practical and both architect-and-end-user-centric!
I was actually planning to write a detailed feature request about it ā specifically custom views built with code (assisted by AI) [maybe in sandbox] to overcome some of the current UI limitations when working with complex data.
So itās really great to hear that you already have plans in this direction ā thatās excellent news
P.S. Some of our managers have started experimenting with creating their own custom views using Claude, connecting them to Fibery data and then embedding them back into the workspace.
I think AI could do a lot of this too! You have so much feedback data and suggestions it could work from.
Again just to reiterate I think you have had an awesome cadence previously, and sending from a place of love for fibery, just i think expectations are shifting so quickly now!
I just used Claude via your MCP last night to put together some relations and formulas related to a single problem I wanted to solve. I personally could have done it, but it would have been time consuming. Instead, Claude figured it all out and I was able to work on something else. Very good.
Honestly, your formula AI was a big reason I stuck with Fibery a year ago - several other platforms intrigued me, but they didnāt have formula AIs. So I think that was a great move as well.
I also just love how you all are developing. Within the last few months Iāve seen some features that I havenāt seen elsewhere and itās really hard to imagine using any other platform at this point. And I only get more encouraged as I read posts like this. So thank you!
Yes this is huge too - I was trying to set up in Claude and it suggest Iād need a special AI identity and token that is just used by Claude to make this happenā¦similarly would really like to see comments available ASAP in the MCP so you can get a set up where your AI does some work in Fibery and you can see at a glance that it was the AI but having it comment on the work, and also attribute itselfā¦.especially now that ChatGPT is cleared for the MCP as of todayās news!
Weāve integrated it into the Dashboard so it can be expanded to full screen, and itās similar to using a View. So, users have a link in the left menu, just like the standard View, except itās a Dashboard with our Embed inside (our custom HTML and it pulls data from the Fibery database).
