Fibery UX/UI enhancements

Yes, if you open an entity from a data view it should be easy to cycle between next/prev and see which entity you have selected out of what is available and where you are in the list/board

It works similarly. However, Linear’s implementation is better as it opens as a small unobtrusive popup to quickly scan/open from history — without stealing focus from the currently selected item/entity (example↗). With CMD+K in Fibery, half or even the entire screen is overtaken by the search, making it very easy to loose focus when you just want to quickly scan recent items or jump between them.

Does anyone know of an existing feature request for this? I wanted to add a thought to it today but am having trouble finding what language we have used in the past.

Yes I have all kinds of issues trying to soft return in Rich text fields so references will be maintained, won’t work when any image is pasted below even if I try to soft return after I paste an image (using “shift” + “return”)

For me currently the most needed UX/UI enhancement would be to make the entity views tabs have a link, to directly share that tab with coworkers or stakeholders.

For example, when a Meeting entity has entity view tabs Body, Summary, Minutes, Action Points, I want to share the Summary with a stakeholder, not the entire body. A coworker I want to send the Action Points tab only.

Currently the entity views tabs are not end-user friendly in that:

  • At first use, only the primary tab is visible and new users are not directly aware there are more tabs.
  • The tabs cannot be hidden based on the permissions system
  • The tabs don’t have direct links

Ideally the tabs need to have entity-like behavior to open up all these possibilities.

Bear in mind, Fibery permissions apply at the entity level, so even if tabs could be hidden, this wouldn’t prevent someone from accessing the fields of an entity via some other method, e.g. creating a table view and adding all fields as columns

I have posted a number of feature requests in the last years about improvement of UI navigation and context awareness.
‘Normal users’ often get lost when wanting to navigate ‘up’ or to another project task. Context is very confusing and not clear - the pinned fields are NOT good enough.

A simple example is that I want for all project content, the BIG project name and a project menu to be visible at the top of each project content entity.

The Blue section (Project name, project menu) now I need to generate using a script or complex markdown and a rich text field. :frowning:

What are the ‘menu items’ in your example image?

Some menu items often used like:

  • Overview (About field and View: Updates)
  • Tasks (View: Tasks)
  • Resources (Views: Pages and Notes)

How?

  1. Ideally, the tabs would be Entity Views of the Project entity, but they currently dont have URLs. So this would be a feature request ‘Entity Views Lookups:star_struck:
  2. As a workaround, I use a database ‘MenuItem’ which contain embedded views in their rich text field. This however has the drawback of needing unique MenuItems for every Project, in order to have contextual filters of child entities.
  3. Alternatively, I use a ‘Link’ database with a URL field to click on, although that requires some complexity in creation, and the current link field shows cannot show link title as link, instead of raw URL.

I have the same problem…detail view is so “linear”, every field is the same size and importance. I would like to see main fields BIG, so classical Markdown editor with “properties” would save me.

I have a small idea. I’m trying to create several different rules across multiple databases, and jumping between threads and scrolling down to the “rules” section in each DB feels a bit messy. It would really help if there were a way to filter by functionality — for example, if I could filter just for “rules” and see only the rules from each DB stacked together.

That would make working much faster and clearer.
Just a thought…
I tried using the filter, but it seems to only search by content, not by type or function. Here is what I mean: Filer by "function" - TechSmith Screencast - TechSmith Screencast

It would be very helpful !

Please support Filter bar like Jira/Coda; or filter by header just like GoogleSheets/Excel in table view.

Thank you!
