When converting where I care about the existing non-formula text in the Name field, I just create a new text field (I call it something like “ARCHIVE Name”), create a button that copies the current text name to the new text field, then select all the entities and trigger the button for the whole database to populate the new text field with the current names, then change the Name field to generate by formula and delete the button.

Thank @timothy. Exactly, I have a procedure to avoid the issue, but other users do not, and naturally, so. They expect the “Convert” or “Create New in Relation Fields” to not just throw away their input.
