Another solution to the same problem: Automatically relink broken fields if they have the same name and field type. This is more flexible honestly, but it might also result in things the user didn’t know was happening under the hood.

Sorry, I shouldn’t have said “formulas”. I meant lookups. If the relationship breaks, the subsequent lookup breaks. Never mind. My brain isn’t working this morning, I misread your post.

Ik encountered this myself yesterday with a text field that had a rule behind it which i removed and replaced with a formula field. Ik do wonder how often this would occur now that the formulas are available. Will this be a regular requirement, or only something we need to replace existing fields? …
