When creating Single-Select or Multi-Select fields in Fibery, all new options are created without colours by default. To add visual distinction, users must manually:
-
Create each option
-
Click on each option individually
-
Select a colour from the colour palette
-
Repeat this process for every single option
This becomes very time-consuming when setting up fields with many options (e.g., 10+ professional categories, project statuses, etc.).
I would like to request: Automatic colour assignment from Fibery’s colour palette when creating new select options, similar to how Notion handles this.
How it should work:
-
When a user adds a new option to a Single-Select or Multi-Select field, Fibery automatically assigns the next available colour from its colour palette
-
Colours should cycle through the available palette (similar to how Notion does it)
-
Users can still manually change colours afterwards if desired
-
This should apply to both new options added during field creation and options added later
-
An option for those of us who would like this feature would be to add a toggle in field settings: “Automatically assign colours to new options”.
Time Savings: Currently, setting up a field with 10 options requires 20+ clicks just for colour assignment. With auto-assignment, this becomes zero additional clicks.
Better UX: Colours provide important visual cues for organisation and quick scanning. Having them assigned automatically encourages their use.
Consistency with User Expectations: Many users coming from Notion, like me, expect this behaviour.
Improved Workflow: Reduces friction during database setup, allowing users to focus on content rather than manual formatting tasks.
