I suppose this is identical in function to using an Action to define a field value when an entity is created, if a Formula is used. But “default value” is a simpler idea than “Action, triggered upon entity creation, etc”, and would be easier to maintain, since you can easily update a Field’s definit…

This would be great to use with forms. This way you could create a new entity with a form and have all the relevant information default in programmatically. I can do this with a button but that doe not stop users from using other methods.

This would help solve the basic issue of not being able to set a default date as a dynamic value such as TODAY.
