Validation Rules that just show warning and do not block action

Could you add an option for validation rules to just warn the user with the message popup instead of outright blocking the action entirely?

For us, maybe a project goes over budget and when a new sprint for that project is scheduled, I’d want to warn the user that they’re over budget, but not necessarily completely block it.

If we could use formulas as filters in regular automation rules, just like we can in validation rules, maybe a “display message” action would make more sense there.

This could also be accomplished with automations. For example, you could have an automation that sends a notification to the relevant users, or you could have a status or text field that automatically shows the over budget state. Or are you specifically wanting the toast message?

Specifically the toast message, as the other 2 options you suggested feel disconnected to the immediate action the user just took/tried to take.

Seems like this feature request is essentially what I’m looking for: Show toast through rule automations - #9 by RonMakesSystems

No plans in near future, but the request makes sense

I was just thinking about this. I would love if you could have a warning notification that had two buttons on it “proceed anyway” and “block”
