Super short demo of upcoming Custom Integrations (with AI)

We’ve been experimenting with a much easier way to build custom integrations in Fibery.

Here I built a Google Drive connector from scratch. The most annoying part was actually Google’s OAuth setup. Connector AI helped with the rest: publishing the connector, fixing issues, and even debugging why attachments were coming through empty.

Once the connector was working, I synced folders and files from Google Drive and then used a single prompt to build a simple file browser inside Fibery.

From zero to a working integration + UI took about 30 minutes.

The goal is pretty simple: connecting Fibery to another tool shouldn’t require waiting for us to build the integration. You should be able to build it yourself in an hour.

Amazing stuff – looking forward to build custom integration with Metabase/StarRocks

Wow! Also looking forward to build my own custom integrations.

Hey @mdubakov , I’d be curious to try as well, having spent quite a bit of time with the integration API. I want see how well it can build a Quickbooks Time/TSheets integration.

I love to pilot this as well. I want to build the integration as you shared in the video - sync Google Drive files (docs/sheets) with Fibery

I can give you access, but not for files please  We are figuring out how to handle data transfer restrictions on vercel now. Let me know if you still want to try it

Yes, please  thanks!

I’d also love to join the pilot if that’s possible!

I was thinking to myself, as I watched the demo, that I’m not sure Google Drive/files is the best choice for end-user managed custom integrations. It’s the kind of integration that the application should maintain.

Glad to know I’m not the only one thinking that.

This looks really useful. Would it be able to help me with the following which ive been stuck on for a while:

  1. Create a 2-way sync between google calendar and fibery
  2. Allow each user to authenticate their own google calendar integration in a simple self serve way
  3. Allow each user to choose what they want to sync between their fibery and google calendar in a simple self serve way

Unfortunately 2-way sync is not supported

I agree, what a time to be alive!. Amazing.

I’m not sure I will have time to make any new integrations to be helpful in the beta, but a few questions

  • Can you add our existing integrations to this?
    • For example, I’m using Fibery native Hubspot integration but I want to make some tweaks to it. If I can “take over” so its now a custom integration without disturbing the existing database which has been heavily built on top.
  • If the business model is to more directly pay for Vercel usage (which I think is great) can sync frequency be more often than hourly?
  • Is it on roadmap to be like Custom Apps i.e. we can use external agents? I could then roll my exisiting integrations onto it (they currently run on Vercel) for a single place to manage them
  • Does it use the encrypted ENV in Vercel so we can store the API tokens?

Every. Single. Time.

I find it the most complicated problem as a non-engineer and turns “build it in 30 minutes” to “build it in 30 minutes and then spend 4 hours trying to integrate”

could it be in the future?

Unfortunately no, it is a separately hosted connectors

I hope so, currently we are going to bill by working time, so more frequent syncs — more expensive

If demand will be there for custom connectors, we will add MCP support

Sure!

Would love a beta invite too if this isn’t being released this week

Released as Preview today

Does this support custom actions?

Can this pretty please (if it gets traction) also give more love to custom integrations: allow to add in templates, move integration across spaces (not just for custom integrations), allow other users to integrate an account, custom actions (incl file upload), sync field as editable (like the email content field).

While some of these may already be possible by reverse engineering, they are not well documented and not official.

This is mainly relevant if this gets traction, but I would think/hope so since makes for a basic Zapier replacement if there are custom actions
