Rich Text: Drag to move/reorder elements

Currently the only way to “reorder” anything in Rich Text fields seems to be cut and paste.

It would very useful to be able to drag the current element (or the current selection) to move it.

Also I would expect that moving (or cutting and pasting) a collapsed section would also move its collapsed contents – but it does not.

If you’ve experimented with Pages, you will already have an idea of where documents/rich-text elements are heading, including re-ordering via drag and drop.

Drag-to-reorder in Pages seems limited to blocks currently, but I would also still like to be able to reorder individual checklist/bullet items, and selected text.

Well, it is possible to drag and drop text and lists (but no, not reorder individual list items unfortunately).

How are people working around this these days? I am trying to leverage more rich text fields these days but the experience has been a step down from other block editors.

We have experimented with that, but it is far from great

Thank you! This is exactly what I needed. Using escape helps with 50% of the issues I was having!
