Custom App feature: I want to be inspired! What are you building with custom apps?
I created a data visualisation widget so you can embed an interactive HTML widget in any rich text field.
If you have ever used the Claude Desktop app then you may really appreciate the visualisation widget it uses to display inline data charts. I really missed it when I asked some data questions in Claude and output the summary to a Fibery report which loses all the visual charts.
There are 4 main pieces (and optional 5th)
-
Widget database. Each entity is one chart. The Widget entity has a Rich Text field called āHTML Blockā which holds the chartās HTML in a single code block. Its Slug field is a short unique name, such as
pipeline-weeklyfor easy reference -
Widget Viewer. A Custom App whose only job is to display the HTML code block from one Widget. You tell it which Widget with two URL Parameters:
sis the Space andwis the Slug. -
Embed block in any rich text field, pointing at the Widget Viewer. For example,
https://<workspace>.fibery.io/apps/widget-viewer/?s=Operations&w=pipeline-weeklyshows thepipeline-weeklyWidget from the Operations Space. -
Agent skill which has instructions to format charts the way you prefer and directs it to create the HTML charts and use Fibery MCP to save it in the Fibery db.
-
(Optional) A Report database with the Automation Rule to fill the Widget embeds. When you write a Report entity which has a rich text field, you can add Placeholder text wherever you want to place the chart. Then selecting a helper checkbox field
Fill Embedstriggers an Automation Rule which swaps each Placeholder for an Embed block. AI agents use this route because the Fibery MCP connector canāt create Embed blocks (new feature request :).
I hope it works for you too.
