# \[UI/UX\] Global Create New Entity - Does NOT Focus on Select Database First

The form for creating a new entity from the top of the left sidebar or the keyboard shortcut `C`, focuses on the first field of the database selected by default, instead of focusing on the database/type selector.

#### When clicking on the button at the top of the left sidebar

Presumably this is not a big issue, since that button is clicked using the mouse/touch, and the user can continue with the mouse/touch to select the database.

#### But when using the Add new entity `C` keyboard shortcut

The natural next step would be to continue using the keyboard to:

- EITHER skip the database selection by pressing tab, if somehow the desired database is already selected
- OR:
  1. pressing `ENTER` to open the database selector
  2. `UP`/`DOWN` to select the database
  3. `ENTER` to pick the selection
  4. then have the focus jump to first field.

While all four of the steps of the second path above, do work, in order to get to step 1, the user has to:

- EITHER **abandon the keyboard** and go to the mouse/touch to select the database selector field first.
- OR **press `Shift` + `Tab` 3 times!** to go from the auto-focused first field backwards to the database selector field, which makes reduces the usefulness of the keyboard shortcut, which is meant to help us avoid using the mouse/touch.

I just realised that if the first field is a Rich Text one, then 4 keyboard actions are needed to change the Database: `ESC` follwed by `Shift` + `Tab` x 3
