# Rules: update entity field when the end date is today

Faced a problem that the required field is not updated when the period duration comes to an end. I have sprints with a duration of 2 weeks

I tried to set a rule that I want to automatically change state when the sprint ends (rule based on date end)

but the rule doesn’t hold

Am I doing the right thing?

Your rule will only trigger when the Date field is updated.  
If you want the rule to trigger as time passes (and check whether the end date is today) then you’ll need to trigger on a schedule.
