When a name is generated based on conditions or formulas, any notifications about the creation of the entity will have ‘Untitled’. This is obviously because at the time the automation fires for the notif, the name hasn’t been calculated.

Is there a workaround so that people are given proper descriptions of things they are added to at time of creation?

Trigger to entity name updated. And add another checkbox field called “Sent creation notification”

Then name is updated, and checkbox is false, send notification the set the checkbox to true.

Or you can keep the ‘on creation’ trigger and use a formula in the automation action (that is basically the same as the name formula) which will thus be calculated at the time the action executes (irrespective of whether the name formula has been calculated)

But won’t they get two emails?

Not sure what you mean.
If you choose @RonMakesSystems’s suggestion, then there should be a single trigger (when the name is updated) and the checkbox mechanism ensures it will only run-once.
If you choose my suggestion, then there should be a single trigger (when the entity is created) and it will only run once.

But if they opt-in to emails for everything, the assigned-to trigger happens as well

Because you wrote

I think Ron and I assumed you were talking about sending emails via an automation action, but I gather now that perhaps you are talking about native notifications, and your users are opting to receive these via email. Right?

When you say

> [@AdVhPkgKad](#):
>
> they opt-in to emails for everything

what exactly do you mean?

There is no native notification for entity creation, so what are the events you are referring to that will cause them to get two emails?

</div>

If they opt-in to ASSIGNED and they get assigned at Create, then the notif fires before the NAME is calculated

If I write an automation to send that is separate to the NATIVE functionality, then they will get two emails - one where the name is Untitled
