For some use cases the sidebar is not needed in custom apps that I create. I want to be able to share the URL of the custom app and allow people to view/interact without the extra menu, which may distract them.

And it would be great we could also embed this on a website.

Are there others who have similar needs? And is this something that is on the backlog?

But you can use a link from Open in a new tab action. For example, like this

I actually just ran into a similar need. I wanted my custom app to open Fibery’s native entity view in a side panel instead of just in a new tab when clicked. It was able to do this pretty well. The panel functionality doesn’t work as well as the native solution with the panels stacking, but it’s a side panel with an iframe of that entity view. My issue is that panel still has the left sidebar show up when you scroll over the left edge of the iframe - which means on the custom app I have the original side bar on the left side of the screen and now a second sidebar in the middle of the page. If there was a way to suppress the sidebar it would be very helpful!

Would you mind sharing any more details of how you accomplished this, please? (Specific prompts, screenshots, etc?)

I’ve been trying to do the same, essentially having a Custom App that opens Fibery’s native entity view with all the normal functionality (including using # for mentioning entities, and @ for tagging people) but without much luck. Would love if this was possible!

I might have misunderstood, but everything works stably and well for me this way 🧐 :

1. On the App page, use the icon in the top right to open the page—select the “Open in a new tab” action.
2. Take that link and paste it into an Embed — which will serve as our View.

And it all works without two sidebars appearing — only the one on the left remains 😀 .

I do have a question regarding a custom app I created. I would like to share it with others, but when they try to access it, they receive an “Unauthorized” message. Is it possible to have the custom app link redirect users to the login page? I want to share only the specific app URL with them, rather than our main Fibery workspace URL.

Note that it is not possible to share specific app to public. Can you describe your current use case for this app?

We are a school and would like to build an app for staff and parents to view specific information, example, a Lost and Found app. If users log into the main workspace, the Fibery menu might confuse them. The app can be protected with a login. They already have school accounts, so they should be able log into the app, but they don’t work in Fibery; they just need to view information.

I guess it can be done already, but with some tricks. Let’s say if you have URL of the App now and not logged in, you will see login screen and will be redirected to App after the login (you have to be Fibery user, of course).

So it is more about organizing what a user (let’s say a parent) can see.
Fibery handles permissions quite well, but it is a complex area.
You can create a separate Lost and Found Space with needed databases and one App as a View. Then you have to invite all parents and staff to this space (they should be Fibery users), and they will not see anything else, only Lost and Found Space with a single App View. In this specific case UI will be quite simple when their login.

Then you can add more spaces for parents for more use cases, and they will be visible in left menu.

So the main limitations are

1. If you want to make App password-protected, it can be done only for Fibery users
2. You have to add this users to relevant Spaces

However, we will think how to make it less complex in nearest future for apps

currently, if I not logged in and access the URL of the app (.fibery.io/apps/xxx), I will not see the login screen, but only the “Unauthorized” message, the behaviour is not the same when users access the URL of the view - which will redirect them to the login page. I am not sure if this is a bug or expected?

Bug is fixed and deployed. Now you should be redirected to fibery login page, when you access _.fibery.io/apps/xxx_ without being logged in to Fibery.

I do think you misunderstood, which is my fault because what I am suggesting is different from the original parent request. I’m trying to open a native Fibery entity view inside an app. And when I open up the native Fibery entity view, it has a sidebar, creating a double sidebar. Your solution is for getting an app without a sidebar, but that doesn’t resolve my issue. I took a quick video to show.

Worked for me on the first try other than with this sidebar issue. Prompt below:

> “The three dots button in the top right of each card has a “open in Fibery” button. Is it possible for this to trigger Fibery’s native panel instead of opening in a new tab? I would want this to just open Fibery’s native entity view for that card in a panel on the same screen”
